This week’s Extraordinary Cinema is curated in conjunction with the Kennedy Center’s upcoming engagement of 10,000 Dreams: A Celebration of Asian Choreography. This week’s film screening presents a series of short films—some dance films, others dance documentaries—all led, directed, choreographed, or featuring the stories of Asian creatives in dance.

Registration is not required but encouraged so you can get the most up-to-date status of the films. If not registered please check the website day of film screening for cancelation or location change due to inclement weather- including heat advisories or rain.

This week’s Extraordinary Cinema is curated in conjunction with the Kennedy Center’s upcoming engagement of 10,000 Dreams: A Celebration of Asian Choreography onstage in the Opera House, June 18–23, 2024. Curated by the Kennedy Center and Phil Chan, 10,000 Dreams shines the spotlight on Asian and Asian American choreographers.

This week’s film screening presents a series of short films—some dance films, others dance documentaries—all led, directed, choreographed, or featuring the stories of Asian creatives in dance. Over the course of the night, experience 10 independent films representing a wide variety of dance styles and stories told by artists coast-to-coast across the U.S.A.

Short Films

Registration & Entry

For Millennium Stage Outdoor Film screenings on the REACH Video Wall, no tickets are required but Registration is encouraged so you can get the most up-to-date status of the films. If not registered, please check the website day of the film screening for cancelation or location changes.

A limited number of seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis for our guests with disabilities. Guests are also welcome to bring their own blankets and chairs.

Welcome to THE REACH!

  • Guests are welcome to bring a picnic to our outdoor spaces during non-event times. Coolers must be limited to 16 quarts or smaller. Personal chairs must be limited to 36" high or smaller.
  • No grills, glass containers, or personal fireworks are permitted on Kennedy Center campus.
  • Alcoholic beverages are only allowed through Kennedy Center authorized food and beverage providers and must be consumed within the providers operating perimeter. Outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
  • Launching, landing, or operating unmanned or remote controlled aircraft ("drones") on Kennedy Center campus is strictly prohibited.
  • Personal items that block other visitors' views are prohibited on the Kennedy Center campus.
  • Possession of firearms is prohibited on federal lands.
  • Pets are welcome!

Let’s Talk Dance:
Asian Creatives in Ballet

This conversation will focus on the choreographic voice alongside the Asian experience in the ballet world, and how the panelists’ identities and life journeys have informed their choreographic processes. Panelists include Phil Chan, Edwaard Liang, Dana Tai Soon Burgess, and Georgina Pazcoguin, along with moderator Jane Raleigh.
