Program Notes
By Imani Mosley
If one were to look for an overarching theme in this program, the best option would be that of collaboration. Collaboration between composer and poet, collaboration between composer and performer, these pieces exemplify a syncretic compositional practice. All of these pieces, whether in their genesis or their lives as work, have collaboration at their heart. That kind of connection makes for a powerful program, one that pulls together works that, on the surface, may seem more disparate than similar.
