Join legendary jazz pianist, composer, and educator Dr. Billy Taylor and his trio (Chip Jackson on bass and Winard Harper on drums) as he walks you through the musical world of Jazz on 52nd Street. Home to some of the most famous jazz clubs in history, this New York City area hosted musicians like Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and Art Tatum. In addition to presenting vintage clips of these jazz greats, demonstrating different musical styles and techniques, the trio also performs jazz standards, including “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Stompin’ at the Savoy,” “Caravan,” “How High the Moon?” and “A Night in Tunisia” (recorded in 2001 at C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, VA).
