Tchaikovsky’s “Pathétique” Symphony is a force to be reckoned with—a veritable declaration of forbidden love shrouded in mystery. This impassioned program also features Prokofiev’s evocative Summer Night Suite and Time’s River, an NSO co-commission by Alexander Raskatov. Alexei Ogrintchouk, Principal Oboe of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, takes center stage for Raskatov’s new concerto Time’s River., described as “a hymn to nature in resonance with our time.”
