“Uncle Devin” Walker, known as the Children’s Drumcussionist, is a pioneering figure, celebrated for his unique blend of Family Funk. As the creator of The Uncle Devin Show ®, his award-winning compositions include Uncle Devin’s DrumTales! and Be Yourself! , empowering and uplifting children through infectious rhythms. He is a member of the 1 Tribe Collective’s, All One Tribe 2022 Grammy®-nominated album. His acclaimed children’s book, The ABCs of Percussion!, reflects his dedication to the arts in early childhood education. The Uncle Devin Show ®—a DC Certified Business Enterprise—was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2022 by the DC Small Business Development Center. In 2024, he released one of the first children’s Go-Go albums, In the Pocket!

His captivating concerts and workshops engage schools and communities worldwide exploring the rich history of percussion in addition to partnerships with esteemed organizations like the Freeman Arts Pavillion, Virginia Tech, the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, and the Grammy® Museum. Uncle Devin merges his passion for justice and music, using his platform to inspire social change and artistic expression.

Uncle Devin co-founded WEE Nation Radio (WNR), an online platform and app providing culturally rich music for children and families, featuring Jazz, Go-Go, Reggae, Hip-Hop, World Music, and WEE Nation Reads, an online podcast featuring children’s book authors in partnership with the Diverse Books Project sponsored by the Sherman Teacher Scholars Program at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He is a former talk show host for Radio One and Radio Programmer for WPFW 89.3 FM in Washington, DC, and KBOO 90.7 FM in Portland, OR.

WNR understands the importance music plays in children’s development and its critical role in the process of the “wiring” of a young child’s brain. We know that all children learn by watching, listening, and especially doing. Uncle Devin believes, “It is our responsibility to develop and design music programs that will be a larger movement of change necessary for all children to live in a safe and inclusive society. We need community control over what our children listen to musically every day, which is a very important tool toward self-affirmation and cultural awareness.”

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised nearby in Seat Pleasant, MD, Uncle Devin took over his brother's drum set at an early age and never looked back. Influences include DC’s official music, Go-Go, as well as Jazz, Bossa Nova, and conscious Hip Hop. As an aspiring musician at UMBC, he was honored to perform with the great Dizzy Gillespie in 1985 and recently, with two of his DC Go-Go idols, “Sweet” Cherie Mitchell-Agurs of Be'la Dona and William “JuJu” House of Experience Unlimited (EU), in association with Teaching for Change and Monumental Sports for Capital City Go-Go Education Game Days.

Matt “Swamp Guinee” Miller is a multi-genre, drummer/percussionist, recording artist, producer, songwriter, actor, cultural arts educator and fatherhood ambassador from Washington, D.C.

Matt has performed, toured, recorded and collaborated as a drummer/percussionist with artists, groups and programs such as: Crank LuKongo, The Legendary Wailers feat. Junior Marvin of Bob Marley & The Wailers, Bambu Station, Culture feat. Kenyatta Hill, The Archives, Thievery Corporation, Paul Reed Smith, The Washington Performing Arts Society (WPAS), The Alvin Ailey School, The Alvin Ailey Extension Program, and more. Much of Matt’s work has been dedicated to his commitment of educating through the arts. He has also served as Music Director for “Life Stories'' with the Theatre Lab at New Beginnings, a National Endowment of Arts & Humanities funded program for youth rehabilitation through the Dept. of Youth and Rehabilitation Services in Washington, D.C. 

In 2014, Matt was featured in WETA’s critically acclaimed documentary, Washington DC in the 80’s, which received an award by the Nat’l Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for Best Outstanding Historical Documentary by the Nat’l Chesapeake Bay Chapter. In 2019, Matt’s music production, Crank LuKongo, was nominated for a WAMMIE Award in 2 categories for Best Go-Go Album, and Best Go-Go Artist/Group. In 2020, Matt was the last artist to receive a full feature in the DC Music Review and was also a selected panelist for the 2020 Kujichagulia Virtual Convo with Pan-African Artists by the Banneker City LLC of the Pan-African Federalist Movement. 

Today, Matt continues to create cultural arts enrichment initiatives and provides group workshops and masterclasses. In 2023, Matt served as the Musical Director and recorded and co-scored the soundtrack for the critically acclaimed play, Gypsy & the Bully Door written by Nina Angela Mercer. Matt continues his passion for recording, performing, and educating.

Groovy Nate^® is a children’s entertainer, and Teaching Artist, who creates fun and educational shows using funky grooves, exotic musical instruments, and comedy—a la Sesame Street meets Parliament/Funkadelic. He is also a Grammy^®-nominated artist with the 1 Tribe Collective. Groovy Nate's shows encourage children and adults to move, sing, and play creatively with one another.

Groovy Nate has worked as a Teaching Artist with Wolf Trap since 2014 and participated in the Kennedy Center’s Teaching Artist Present (TAP) program, as well as the NHSA: in the Classroom program. He is also on the Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) Teaching Artist Roster.

Prior to working as a children's performer and Teaching Artist, he founded the underground soul band, Oktbrwrld (October World). They worked from 1997–2006, producing four albums, winning The Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) award four times, as well as having two songs featured in the 2007 motion picture, Cougar Club.
