Amanda F. Standard is the visionary Founding Director of SoundXpressed Dance Company (Washington, DC), the resident professional arm of Divine Dance Institute, Inc. (Maryland), which she founded in January 2002. A public school educator with over 25 years of experience, Amanda also serves as a National Teacher Leader for the Connected Arts Network through the National Dance Education Organization.
SoundXpressed Dance Company debuted on September 17, 2021, at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage. The company is deeply rooted in the philosophical and organizational foundations of Divine Dance Institute, which has been a cornerstone of arts education and cultural leadership in Prince George’s County, MD, and throughout the DMV area, including Washington, DC, and Virginia.
Under Amanda's leadership, SoundXpressed embodies community empowerment and artist empowerment . The company regularly brings industry professionals to lead summer intensive two-week training programs, offering pre-professional dancers invaluable opportunities to hone their skills and gain insights from seasoned experts. Company members play key roles in media technology, content creation, marketing, teaching, choreography, stagecraft, scriptwriting, and directing, enhancing Divine Dance Institute's diverse programs, such as its community-wide dance and theater offerings, distance learning, after-school programs, and summer S.T.E.A.M. enrichment initiatives.
SoundXpressed engages the Divine Spirit as the genesis for innovation and creativity, celebrating the harmonious intersection between faith, culture, and the human experience. Through impact performances and cultural leadership , the company not only develops its members intellectually, physically, and spiritually but also contributes to the vibrant cultural landscape of the DMV area.
