Jamison Curcio & Shanice Mason

Jamison Curcio and Shanice Mason are co-conspirators committed to durational experiences, experimental usages of space, audience responsibility, and community care. As architects of space and time, they are in community and solidarity with other architects, local Black women and Black femmes, who explore their foundational positions within their immediate and distant surroundings as a community practice. It’s about taking an inventory and acknowledging what has come before them, where they are now, and where they want to go. They explore themes of taking up space, demanding that they deserve to be in said spaces and have the right to choose who’s in proximity. They invite the audience to practice witnessing and seeing the evidence of their presence that has always been there. As artists invested in community building, they ask the audience to reflect on their experiences when they step into their work.
