Erica Rae Smith-Gooden
Erica Rae Smith, Philadelphia native, received heR&B.F.A in Modern Dance and has had the opportunity to work with noted dance companies such as New LeJa Dances, Mahogany Dance Theatre, Tania Isaac Dance, and Lesole's Dance Project. Erica has trained in many styles of dance ranging from Ballet, Modern, and Jazz to African and Caribbean. She has also had the opportunity to share what she has learned and her love of dance as an instructor with the Dance Institute of Washington Education and Outreach Program, and studio Prince George County, MD. In 2011 Erica has also developed her own program Raediant movement; a traveling dance workshop, providing workshops and classes in Dancehall Modern dance techniques in both Philadelphia The DC Metro Areas. Erica has been the first to host Dancehall and Afro Fusion Focused workshops in the DC Metro area, collaborating and hosting artist from Jamaica, UK, USA. In 2013 Erica Rae was invited to present her own choreography as a part of Connecting Vibes USA UK Educational and Performance Dance, in St. George, Grenada. Most recently in Erica, Co-presented the DC metro areas first Dancehall Dance focused weekend that included instructors and dancers from Jamaica, New York. Erica was able to connect with local dancers and dancehall enthusiast in the DC Metro area to host workshops, an in-studio performance, and the areas first Dancehall Dance Competition, Champion DMV Dancehall Battle. As she continues to grow in dance, Erica goal is to continue to bring the joy that dance gives her to others in the form of education and performance
