Ary Sanchez-Amaya is originally from Nayarit, Mexico, but grew up on Gabrielino, Tongva lands in what is now known as East Los Angeles, CA. She comes from a family of Indigenous farmers, transnational farmers, and medicinal knowledge keepers. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in the Environmental Sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles. Currently, Ary works at Anahuacalmecac, Los Angeles' only Indigenous led school, where she co-teaches Indigenous Environmental Science to middle and high school students.
