Gopal Ratnam

Gopal Ratnam is a senior staff writer at Congressional Quarterly and Roll Call. In his role he reports and writes about U.S. technology policy, covering discussions, legislation, and actions by Congress and regulatory agencies to address issues stemming from a range of technologies including social media sites, artificial intelligence systems, quantum computing, cryptocurrency and others. Previously Gopal was a reporter at Bloomberg News and Foreign Policy where he reported and wrote about U.S. national security issues from the Pentagon, the White House, and State Department. He has reported from about 40 countries and has reported extensively from trips to Afghanistan. Gopal is a native of India and speaks two Indian languages besides English and travels to India often to visit his mother and other family. He lives in Oakton, VA with his wife and has two grown daughters. Gopal is learning to play the harmonica and also learning Spanish.
