Jing Qiao

Jing Qiao was appointed to the second violin section of National Symphony Orchestra by Music Director Gianandrea Noseda in 2018. As a regular substitute violinist of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Jing recently took part in its recent Europe and Israel tour. She has also performed with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, and the Music of Baroque ensemble in Chicago. Jing appeared as guest principal second violin with Minnesota Orchestra in February of 2015.

She began her musical studies on the accordion at age five and switched to violin the following year. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, studying under Professor Milan Vitek. She completed her Master of Music degree at Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University as a student of Professor Almita Vamos. She also studied with Sylvia Rosenberg at Aspen Music School and Festival. Her mentors also include Per Enoksson and Amy Oshiro.

As a soloist and a chamber musician, Jing has since performed solo recitals and concerts in China, The Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Poland, and the U.S. and has also participated in numerous music festivals in the U.S. and Europe. She made her debut with the Nielsen Violin Concerto with the Orchestra of the Triangle in 2008.
