José André

José André is a jazz pianist that taught himself how to play at an early age. He has already delighted audiences of different countries around the world and has performed at various venues including the royal albert hall, and the Library of Congress. He studies at the Juilliard School In New York City, and is mentored by renowned pianist, Cyrus Chestnut. His talent has led him to be on the piano chair in many big bands including the NJW All-Star Jazz Orchestra, Vail Jazz ensemble, and NYO Jazz Orchestra, among others. He was part of the National Peer-to-Peer program from the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, and award winner of the 2019 VSA International Young Soloists Competition. José André was selected as one of the Kennedy Center’s Next 50 leaders. As he says, “We always have to see life with a great smile every day.”
