Hanna Lee

Hanna Lee joined the National Symphony Orchestra in September 2018. Prior to joining the NSO, she regularly performed as a substitute violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony in C (formerly the Haddonfield Symphony). She was also a member of Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra for seven years in Korea.

Lee was born in Seoul, Korea, and began studying the violin at the age of eight. She has won top prizes in the numerous major national competitions, appeared extensively in recitals and chamber music concerts, and performed as a soloist with Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also appeared in renowned concert venues including Carnegie Hall, Musikverein, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie de Paris Cite, the Seoul Arts Center, and Lincoln Center.

Lee received her bachelor's degree from Seoul National University, where she studied with Kyung-Sun Lee, and her master's degree from Temple University, studying with Eduard Schmieder. She held a graduate teaching assistantship and received a soloist award. Included in her list of teachers is David Kim, the current concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
