Francesca Jandasek

Francesca Jandasek, born in Africa and of Czech descent, loves all of the arts and seeks to share this passion with people of different communities and cultures through teaching, performing and creating. Francesca’s involv ent in the Washington, DC dance community has been full and eclectic. As a dancer and performer, Francesca has worked with Propaganda Dance Theater, CityDance ensemble, Artefacts Dance, BosmaDance and Santi Budaya (Indonesian Dance). She has since performed and taught nationally and internationally with many of these companies. In addition to local dance ventures, Francesca had the opportunity to work with Tanec Praha – a charitable organization that exists to enhance and further develop modern dance in the Czech Republic – as part of their International Modern Dance Festival held in Prague. In 2006, Francesca received the Artist Fellowship for Dance from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and she was also awarded a choreographic fellowship from the Kennedy Center as part of the Millennium Stage Local Dance Commissioning Project. In 2007, she was nominated as a finalist for " erging Choreographer" for the Metro DC Dance Awards. Francesca currently dances with local dance companies Sharna Fabiano Tango Company, Dakshina, Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company and DeviatedTheatre. Beyond dance, Francesca is a full-time kindergarten teacher at the Sheridan School, piano teacher and composer. She is also pursuing her GYROTONIC(R) certification.
