SOCIAL IMPACT
haus of bambi is a (figurative) home for queer artistry in Washington, DC that is committed not only to artistic excellence, but to developing real connections using art. Founded by that gorl Bambi (2022 Washington Award winner), the haus is a cross between Andy Warhol’s Factory and Pee-wee’s Playhouse.
Bambi believes art can and should be the reason that we get together. Because of that, the haus creates genderless and gendermore spectacles for the stage, screen, and club that defy genre, start conversations, and complicate any single understanding.
haus of bambi produces events that invite, embrace, and engage a true spectrum of community members. The haus’ collaborators include The Kennedy Center; New York couturier Bach Mai; the bi-monthly nationally distributed magazine The Gay & Lesbian Review; the national queer and BIPOC centered dance festival The BlackLight Summit; Virginia-based Mound Furniture; and DC-based fashion designer The Ron David Studio.
