Robert D'Imperio Principal
Robert D’Imperio joined the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra as Principal Bass in 1995. A graduate of the Boston Conservatory, he received a full scholarship to study with Henri Portnoi, retired Principal Bass of the Boston Symphony. From 1993 to 1995 he served as Principal Bass of the New World Symphony. He has toured extensively, performing both orchestral and chamber music throughout Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, and South America as well as North America. He joined the National Symphony Orchestra for the 2008 – 2009 season. Robert has recorded on the labels of Decca and 4Tay Records, in addition to numerous national and international television and radio broadcasts. He resides in Chantilly, VA with his wife Sandra, daughter Lindsay, and son Nicholas. Hobbies include outdoor pursuits and a passion for competitive archery.
